Tutorial - Attach a file to an email using Outlook Express
Open Outlook Express by clicking the icon on your Desktop just like you usually would to open your email program.
Once the program has opened, click the button near the top left of the window that says Create Mail
A new email message will open up..make sure the window is full screen so you can see all the buttons and menus. To do that, click the top right corner of the new email message on the little square Maximize Symbol between the minus sign and the x.
Ok, you should now have a new email message taking up the full screen. You need to put in an address and a subject, then type your message as you normally do. Now before we send the message, look along the tool bar with all the icons(small symbols) for the one that looks like a paper clip. It will also say 'Attach' near the paper clip. Click this Attach button.
Once you click on the 'Attach paper clip' symbol a small window named "Insert Attachment" opens. This window allows you to browse through your various folders to find the file to attach. The words "Look in:" tell you which folder you are currently browsing through. By clicking on the small 'v' shape you can see all the folders and drives in your computer. Once you have navigated to the folder that contains your file, click it once(highlight it) and then click the Attach button or just double click the file and it will be attached.
Double check the address, subject and message are correct. Verify that the attachment is listed underneath the Subject line. That's it, now click the Send button as you normally would. |
