That’s the sound of me backing up … my data. All computer security plans should start with a good automated backup.
Heard about computer backups but not sure exactly what they entail? Simply put, a backup is a copy of your data…the following site explains the subject in depth.

It gives information on cyber safety in general and has a good selection of articles explaining exactly what various threats are all about, and how to avoid them. If you’ve heard terms such as ‘phishing’ or ‘spyware’ but aren’t sure exactly what they mean, this site will help you understand.

Even those few among us who don’t actually use the Internet have heard of Google, and likely have an idea of what the search engine does too. But even regular users are often unaware that Google offers much, much more. With a free Google account you can do online word processing, create spreadsheets, read books, organise your schedule and share it with others, download free software like Picasa or Chrome, and so much more. We’ve all heard about the recent security breaches on a number of commercial websites, including Honda and Sony. Ever wonder if your data has been compromised in any of these attacks? Here’s a site where you can check to see if your email address has been exposed. It’s a reputable website and will not use your email for other purposes. If you have privacy concerns(which you should)… read their FAQ page. And remember, even if your email isn’t in their database, it is always a good idea to change your password(s) from time to time.
