That’s the sound of me backing up … my data. All computer security plans should start with a good automated backup.

Heard about computer backups but not sure exactly what they entail? Simply put, a backup is a copy of your data…the following site explains the subject in depth.

If you’re running Windows 7, you already have backup software. Microsoft has easy to follow instructions here …

There are also many free backup programs available. This site lists a few and also has links to more backup information.

Most operating systems today include easy to configure backup software and considering the low cost of external storage, there’s no excuse for not having an automated backup in place.

The Federal Government has launched a website to help educate you about online security. It gives information on cyber safety in general and has a good selection of articles explaining exactly what various threats are all about, and how to avoid them. If you’ve heard terms such as ‘phishing’ or ‘spyware’ but aren’t sure exactly what they mean, this site will help you understand.
